Sneak Peak...

Just a few little teaser pictures on how the wedding plans are coming along. The burlap and jute theme is coming along quite well. I am really learning how to make roses out of just about anything! There are some great places to find just about anything you want. Inspiration and the best place to find it is at Pinterest.com
I typed in burlap wedding and WOW the things I found!!!
And just where do you find all this burlap, especially when you need yards and yards?
This site has everything hundreds of yards of burlap for the table runners and more, go take a look!!!

Jute Webbing is what these beautiful roses were made out of. It was just stiff enough to make these big roses beautifully. Even he rosebuds turned out great with it!

This saying is going to be painted on burlap, you will see later how all this ties in with the roses.

Little touches of burlap ribbon behind the ribbon rose looks cute on this candle...
And this jute raped handle and muslin cabbage rose is so cute...
You will see the rest of this picture later too, but it looks really nice lined with all the burlap! I am having so much fun trying new things with burlap and jute along with some other textures and things are really coming together I think. So keep watching for more updates and you'll get to see it all after the wedding in June!!!

Mason Jars...

We are making Hillbilly Wine Glasses out of Mason Jars. All the cups for the night will be mason jars, and all different size jars for decorations.
This will be the cabinet that will have all the mason jars in it,trimmed in grapevine and accented with an old antique door that has the sign that says: "Your glass for the night for whatever tastes right". Tag your cup. Everyone will write their name on the tags that will be on the jars. I popped a couple hydrangea's in the grapevine so we could see how it looked. There will be more flowers and leaves woven in among the grapevine right before the wedding. It is going to be a very Shabby Chic Wedding with lots of old looking things for sure. So see we are getting some things done. I will keep posting as time goes on...

The Veil...

Well we are in full Wedding Mode...
My DIY daughter wants to make everything. I guess if she weren't so much like me I would say she is crazy but we are just alike and we are having fun. But it is a full time job for sure. We are down to 4 months now and I think we are doing pretty well. One of the first things she got done was buying her wedding gown. But she couldn't find a veil she liked and of course she wasn't about to pay $100.00 and up for a veil she said she could make for $10.00... LOL So we have looked and pondered over lots of different styles and we chose one she liked. Now we just needed to make it.
My mind was working over time...
And the light bulb came on!!!
My veil was huge and very long, so we drug it out of the closet and gave it a look!!!
She loved the idea!!! So away we went...
Here I am modeling my veil from May 18, 1974...
We started measuring and away I went with the scissors. I wanted to make sure if I was going to use this that I had enough left over in case my daughter Colleen if she wants to do the same there would be enough for another one! There is plenty. I didn't remember it being that long...
So here we are veil in hand and ready to put it together. I finished sewing it onto a comb last week and now for the time consuming part... We are going to bead it like the trim on her gown... as soon as the sequins come in we will start, her on one side and me on the other...

So now she has her "Something Old"!!!

I can't wait to show you some of the other projects we are working on!
